LOW BOOTS, NEO-COWGIRLS AND BIKER BABES

LOW BOOTS, NEO-COWGIRLS AND BIKER BABES

Low boots abound this fall. Will you go for the cowgirl look, the biker babe, or both?

Hello once again from Lou, the Maverick's Paris-based trend scout. The low boot continues its reign as star of the streets of Paris, with the “Neo-Cowgirl” prevailing among the hip. We even spotted this photo of Paris-St.Germain soccer superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s wife Helena cruising around town in what looks like…could it be? A pair of Aqua Old Gringo Sora 8-inch boots in the streets of Paris?! Oh-la-Yi-haw-la-la!

That is what Lou Maverick likes to see! Luckily, the Maverick carries a huge selection of Old Gringo boots, both high and low, including the Sora in both Aqua and Red. Another favorite is Isabel Marant’s red leather-and-suede boot with vertiginous spike heels, which looks fabulous with skinny pants, dresses or skirts.

But cowgirls, beware, for the biker babe is a close contender in the cool-cat race. Biker boots with plenty of studs and buckles can be worn with everything from skinny jeans to long skirts. We did find one pair from Cesare Paciotti that satisfies both the inner cowgirl and biker-babe in every woman :  the “Texan” low-boot with studs and buckles.

And if it is buckles you want, buckles you may have! My latest pair of boots, from Minelli, gives me just the vertical lift and sexy swagger that I need on a gray, Paris day. Here it is, along with a wider, and generally spiky selection, except for the Chanel quilted boot, which looks downright comfy.

The “Teddy Lezard” metallic boots from Zadig and Voltaire are the sort I crave for a healthy touch of bling to brighten my day, and provide relief from the pain of my beloved platform booties. Another discovery for me is the collection of Laurence Dacade. Her studded booties have just the right amount of heel and subtle, western chic appeal.
